Nice Reel at a Decent Price September 9, 2007 Dean Bielanowski (Brisbane, Queensland Australia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this reel sight unseen so didn't know what to expect for the price. When i received it I was quite impressed with the fit and finish and smooth action. Have fitted it to my son's fishing rod and he (5yo) has no problem using it. Quite good for the asking price!
Very pleased May 22, 2008 Mike Petz (Wauseon, Oh.) I couldn't be happier. The product was shipped to me in a timely manner, and in perfect condition. Thank you for a great fishing reel. It will be put to good use.
Great reel! April 10, 2009 Corey Scott (Rocklin, California, United States) As one of the higher rated, cheaper spinning reels I found on amazon, I decided to give this one a try. I am very happy with the quality... the reel spins very smoothly and quietly, and the fit and finish look and feel very high grade. After using it the first time, if i didn't already know how much this reel cost, I would have guessed it to cost 3x as much
Catches fish June 28, 2009 fatfrog (arizona) Great reel for the money, it performs as well as some I have costing a lot more. The only issue I have with it is It is really big for a freshwater reel. You need a bigger pole to balance this reel.
Pleasantly Surprised July 12, 2009 David McEldery (Plains, MT USA) I've got plenty of cheap spinning reels, and decided to throw down some serious money on an expensive one, so I went shopping on Amazon. This reel came up, and I looked at the reviews, broke down, and ordered another "cheap" reel. One review said it was bigger than expected, and that sold me. I was looking for something bigger for macinaw and steelhead. Well, I loaded it up with 20lb test Spiderwire, mounted it on a medium weight older rod, and took it out on Flathead Lake. I was pleasantly surprised. It cast very nicely and was quite smooth. It's a simple reel, no bells or whistles. I nailed macs in the 5 to 10 lb. range, no problem. I'll find out what this reel's made of when I try it on Salmon River steelhead this fall. I'm a little suspicious of the drag knob. I'm not sure you can crank it down to a 20 or 30 lb. break. I'll find out. I figure that for the price, if it doesn't work out, I'm not out a lot of money. So far so good. I was a little disappointed to see that it is made in China, but isn't everything? I have nothing against the Chinese, I'm glad to see conditions improve for them. I only wish that an American company could turn these out. But, that's a subject bigger than this review. The 106 gets 4 stars for price, and effectiveness as tested thus far. If a 20 lb. steelhead destroys it, I'll let you know.
